Anikka's Low Key 1st Bday in Hawaii

I'm back!!! Yes, I've been soooo lazy lazy lazy to blog about what was going on with the Goya's for the past few months. A series of out of town trips + home projects + daycare provider hunting (and the list goes on and on) took most of my time and I have tons of pictures I have yet to share.

Hmmm, let's see. After Mikka's baptism in Oct, came her first Halloween. Then we drove to California on the 2nd week of December and enjoyed Disneyland for about a week (also Mikka's first out of state travel), then the holidays came (her first Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year) and then about a couple of months ago, we flew to Hawaii (kiddo's first plane ride) to visit my husband's side of the family as it's their first time to see our Mikka. A few weeks after we came back from Hawaii, we celebrate her 1st birthday here in AZ with family and good friends (at the park!) Definitely lotsa "firsts" for my Mikka!!! So imagine the insanity of going through the planning stage of each and every event for the past few months!! As what my husband always says... "crazy mommy!!!"

So there, I got a lot of excuses not keeping my blog updated.. heee...

What makes me want to keep this going is that I realized how much time is passing me by so quickly that before I knew it, I forget a lot of things and end up not having that much to get back with so I can preserve the memories of my life and most especially the memories of my growing tot...

So let me start with Anikka's 1st Birthday celebration when we were in HI. As the title of this post suggests, it was a pretty low key event. We preferred it that way and perhaps we might end up making every birthday celebration of hers in the future to be just like that - simple, intimate and mostly less stress :o)

On her birthday, we went to visit Mikka's oji san (gramps) in the morning and drove quick to Sea Life Park in the afternoon.

We didn't stay there that long so we head back home after a few hours.

While waiting for dinner, I had the time to shoot some pictures of the kiddo that I could use for her birthday invite when we come back here in the mainland.

We were at hubby's brother's house (where we stayed through the entirety of our vacation) and they got her a chantily cake and food togo from Panda Express - yep, you read it right, Panda Express for my unica hija's first birthday! Hahah, it was absolutely one of the highlights of our Hawaii trip :o)

Good thing my brother in law's wife was able to save some candles and party napkins from her daughter's birthday and it was definitely a coincidence that she had Hello Kitty supplies, haha. Mikka's first birthday theme is Aloha Hello Kitty when we celebrate her birthday here in AZ :o) Also, notice she has 2 candles on her cake. We were told that an additional candle is for good luck.

So there, you see, our vacation in Hawaii was pretty laid back as how it is with the lifestyle they have in there. We never hurried to wake up early in the morning because we knew we can just run and go to the cool spots regardless. Afterall, our chauffeur is a local, heeeee (*wink*). We even get kama'aina (local) discounts whenever we go to tourist-y places so that saved us some $$ as well. I will definitely write something about the entire trip on a separate entry so I can show some of the places we've visited there.

Before I go, I thought I'd like to share one of my favorite pictures when we were in Hawaii. I can't get over this picture I dunno why...

Anyways, to our Anikka, belated happy happy first birthday sweetheart! I know this is a tad late of a post but I can't think of a better topic to kick-off mommy's blogging again but to write about your special day. Know that you are so loved by all of us. Thanks for coming to our lives... everything seems to make sense from the day I held you in my arms. I can't believe you're already 1!!! It just felt like it was yesterday when you were 5 lbs, 11 oz, 18" tall... and now look at you! You're eating bananas like there's no tomorrow, drinking from an adult cup, walking, jumping, running, playing hide & seek, loves peekaboo, "reads" books, saying words like "mama, papa, dada, shoes, Jesus, hat, fish",  copies the dogs barking and says "arf!", knows the different parts of your face, etc etc etc etc. You're growing too fast! It's been a year and I still vividly remember - your smile, your gaze, your fingers clinging onto mine, your cry... I will never ever forget... We love you so much sweetheart!!!

You don't remember
I'll never forget
That blessed day when we first met
And I saw the face I always knew
The little smile
The little you

You don't remember
I'll never forget
One day in my life
I will never regret
To feel such love i never knew
All bundled up right there in you

As I held you near my heart
I understood at last
The part of me I never met
You don't remember
But I'll never forget

You don't remember
I'll never forget
That blessed day when we first met
And when I heard your voice
I realized the truth
Everything in my life
Lead me here to you

You don't remember
I'll never forget
One day in my life
I will never regret
A gift so precious
Giving me my angel love
Truly a miracle of God above

As I held you near my heart
I understood at last
The part of me I never met
You don't remember
But I'll never forget

And when I look into your eyes
I see the reason why
I've lived my life

As I held you near my heart
I understood at last
The part of me I never met
You don't remember
But I'll never forget
